Let’s assume you know nothing about filing things and have no files. (That’s many people.) One trip to the office supply store and you will be all set. Print this list out. Click "File" then "Print" in your browser at the top right of the screen. Give this to the staff at any major office supply store:
- 100 Regular blank "File Folders", (not legal size unless your a lawyer.)
- 100 "Hanging Files"
- 100 Two inch wide, "Hanging File Tabs", for the hanging files (if they are not already included in the box.)
- Avery "White Blank labels" #08167 or equivalent sized "Return Address" blanks. It's simple. They MUST be 1/2" x 1 /3/4" or 0.5" x 1.75" in size. No larger or smaller.
- How many? For the 100 folders and 100 hanging files above, you would need 200 of these blank labels.

MORE THAN 100 FILES: 100 is a pretty small filing system. 200 to 300 is average, 400 is a good size, with room for future expansion.
- If you think you will need 200 files, change all the above numbers for folders, hanging files and tabs to 200 and get 400 blank labels.
-
- If you think you will have 300 files, change all the above numbers for folders, hanging files and tabs to 300 and get 600 blank labels.
-
- If you think you will have 400 files, change all the above numbers for folders, hanging files and tabs to 400 and get 800 blank labels.
